ST. ALBERT, AB, Feb. 21 /CNW/ - It was a Valentine's Day that Janet
Huntley won't soon forget! On the morning of Thursday, February 14th, the
Edmonton resident checked the winning LOTTO 6/49 numbers in the newspaper, and
she discovered an $8.9 Million surprise. Janet had matched all six main LOTTO
6/49 numbers drawn on February 13th to win $8,982,537!
The winning ticket was sold at Andy's IGA, located at 9106-142 Street in
Edmonton. The ticket was a $5 Quick Pick ticket with two Selections and one
EXTRA number 'ENTERED'.
"The morning after the draw, I looked up the results in the newspaper and
saw that I had matched all six numbers," she continued. The Quick Pick ticket
matched the winning numbers of 14, 24, 26, 29, 41 and 46 on one line.
Not believing her eyes at first, Janet also checked the winning numbers
on the Internet and by calling the toll-free number from the back of her
ticket. "I thought I had made a mistake!" she said. "It doesn't seem real. I
keep waiting for someone to say, 'You're on Candid Camera!'"
"I've been buying tickets for about 22 years," she added. "I never really
thought I'd win, but I know the money is used for good causes, so I've always
felt good about buying tickets."
NOTE: Media Conferences for lottery wins of a million dollars or more are
