QUEBEC CITY, June 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Yves Demers, chairman of the Board of
Directors of Les Violons du Roy, is pleased to announce the appointment of
Louise Labelle as Director General of the Les Violons organization. The
appointment was endorsed by the Board of Directors on June 26, and takes
effect from September 4, 2007.
Louise Labelle has gained extensive managerial experience over a period
of almost 20 years as a Québec civil servant, in particular with the Québec
pension board, the health insurance board, and the departments of natural
resources and cultural affairs.
"We firmly believe we have chosen a high-calibre manager who will be able
to work with the existing team, artistic director Bernard Labadie and the
musicians in pursuit of the orchestra's work and its quest for excellence,"
said the chairman.
The 24th season of Les Violons du Roy will begin in September 2007, as
the orchestra takes up residence in its new permanent home, the Palais
Montcalm, while continuing to act as a musical ambassador abroad.
