Atlantic Lottery Corporation to Appear Before Public Accounts Committee
HALIFAX, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - LottoFairness.ca welcomes the news that the Nova
Scotia Committee on Public Accounts has decided to meet with the Atlantic
Lottery Corporation later this month.
The decision to call Atlantic Lotto was made yesterday during an
organizational meeting of the Public Accounts Subcommittee on Agenda &
Procedures. The Public Accounts Committee meeting with Atlantic Lotto is
scheduled for Wednesday, October 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the
Legislative Chamber of Province House.
"This will give MLAs the opportunity to ask why Atlantic Lotto gave a
major, untendered contract to a foreign company," said LottoFairness.ca
spokesman Michael Dunn. "It will also allow MLAs to explore why the process
was kept secret, and why Atlantic Lotto did not make a public announcement
about its contract for several months."
Atlantic Lotto did not publicly announce that it had a contract with Boss
Media until this past Tuesday, October 2. The announcement came 237 days after
the foreign company said the contract was signed. It came 124 days after the
foreign company confirmed the identity of Atlantic Lotto as its contract
"We hope MLAs will be able to get an explanation for the secrecy
surrounding this untendered contract," said Michael Dunn. "Why did Atlantic
Lotto fail for seven months to tell Atlantic Canadians what we have a right to
