Long-term funding helps Science North remain strong

McGuinty Government Supporting Jobs, Tourism And Innovation

    TORONTO, April 15 /CNW/ -

    NEWS

Ontario is providing $3.9 million to Science North to help them create
engaging exhibits that will create jobs, attract tourists to the region and
inspire young people to study science.
Science North is a family attraction that opened in Sudbury in 1984. It
has welcomed millions of visitors from around the world. This funding is part
of the 2009 Ontario Budget and is part of the government's overall investment
of over $47 million this year to support the province's cultural agencies.
This includes permanent increases to annual operating grants - the first in
over a decade.
The government is investing in cultural agencies to support jobs in
creative industries and to help create an environment where innovation can
flourish.
