    Security, featuring Dr. Steven Stein

VANCOUVER, Oct. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - The Psychology Foundation of Canada and
Desjardins Financial Security proudly present two seminars this Thursday,
October 23, "Managing to Manage Workplace Stress-Make Your Workplace Great!"
and "The Struggle to Juggle: Top Stress Management Strategies for Work and
Home", both led by Dr. Steven Stein.
"Managing to Manage Workplace Stress" is a breakfast seminar, being held
at the Vancouver Club from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Studies show that the Canadian
economy loses $51 billion each year in lost productivity due to excessive
stress and other mental health problems among employees. Dr. Stein will share
a number of tools that can be applied in the workplace to help people achieve
better work-life balance, manage stress and increase productivity.
"This seminar will be especially useful to employers who are interested
in creating an environment that improves productivity," said Michael Howlett,
president and CEO of the new Canadian Mental Health Commission. "Also, on a
financial note, it will help employers find the tools they need to help their
staff stay healthy while keeping an eye on the bottom line."
"Struggle to Juggle" is offered with two afternoon timeslots to choose
from, noon-1:00 p.m. OR 1:15-2:15 p.m., at the Guinness Tower Conference Room.
Achieving a balanced life is one of our greatest challenges. Dr. Stein will
share some key work-life balance strategies to use at work and at home and how
these strategies relate to emotional intelligence. Also hear how stress
affects your children and pick up some great stress management strategies to
use with your kids during this busy time of year. He will also open the floor
at both events for questions and discussion.
"While these seminars are open to everyone, we particularly encourage
CEOs, HR professionals, EAP specialists, employees, parents, caregivers and
other senior decision-makers responsible for employee health to attend," said
Howlett.
