World Vision Saskatchewan 1,000 Campaign breaks Canadian record; more
than doubles goal
REGINA, Sept. 17 /CNW/ - Tonight, musical guests Brad Johner and Carrie
Catherine will join CTV's Angel Blair and World Vision President Dave Toycen
to thank local World Vision child sponsors at the Regina Performing Arts
Centre during a special evening event.
World Vision is inviting local child sponsors and their guests to an
evening of appreciation and entertainment. Johner and Blair will share
experiences from their recent trip to Nicaragua where they saw the benefits of
World Vision child sponsorship and met with children and their families.
Carrie Hilderman, a grade six teacher from Moose Jaw, will speak about her
trip to Rwanda and Indonesia to visit World Vision projects as a volunteer
with the organization.
This event will mark the end of the Saskatchewan 1,000 Campaign. The goal
of the six-week campaign was to raise awareness among local residents about
issues affecting children in developing countries and to encourage them to
sponsor 1,000 children in need through World Vision. Saskatchewan residents
have again demonstrated their overwhelmingly generosity: the campaign more
than doubled its goal. To date, 2,991 children have been sponsored during the
campaign, surpassing all previous results for campaigns held in leading
Canadian cities. These newly sponsored children join the 13,879 children who
were already sponsored by Saskatchewan residents through World Vision.
