Lignol Receives BIOTECanada Gold Leaf Award

VANCOUVER, June 11 /CNW/ - Lignol Energy Corporation (TSX-V: LEC)
("Lignol"), a leading technology company in the cellulosic ethanol and
biorefining sector, announced that it has been named "Early Stage Company of
the Year - Industrial and Agricultural" at the BIOTECanada Gold Leaf Awards.
The award is given annually to a company that has distinguished itself from
its peers with demonstrated technology innovation milestone achievements.
"We are very pleased to have received this award, which we believe
validates our position as an industry leader in non-food based biofuel and
biochemical development," said Ross MacLachlan, Chief Executive Officer of
Lignol. "We are at an important stage of commercializing our unique
biorefinery process and we appreciate BIOTECanada's recognition of the
progress we have made in developing our technology and achieving our corporate
objectives."
"Our team continues to work with a variety of non-food cellulosic
feedstocks, at our new facility located on the grounds of the British Columbia
Institute of Technology ("BCIT"), to produce cellulosic ethanol and a variety
of valuable biochemical co-products with exceptionally high greenhouse gas
reduction and oil displacement benefits," continued Mr. MacLachlan. "This
award will be a valuable asset for our company as we move closer to commercial
deployment of our technology, both in Canada and abroad."
This is the second industry award that Lignol has received this year. In
March 2008, the company was also named "Emerging Life Sciences Company of the
Year" by LifeSciences BC.

    About Lignol

Lignol (TSX-V: LEC) is a Canadian company undertaking the development of
biorefining technologies for the production of fuel-grade ethanol and other
biochemical co-products from cellulosic biomass feedstocks. Lignol's modified
solvent based pre-treatment technology, originally developed by a former
affiliate of General Electric, and then further developed and commercialized
for wood-pulp applications by a subsidiary of Repap Enterprises Inc.,
facilitates the rapid, high-yield conversion of cellulose to ethanol and the
production of value-added biochemical co-products, including HP-L(TM). Lignol
is executing on its development plan through strategic partnerships to further
develop and integrate the core technologies on a commercial scale. Lignol also
intends to invest in, or otherwise obtain, equity interests in energy related
projects which have synergies with its biorefining technology. For more
