MONTREAL, June 28 /CNW Telbec/ - In the presence of citizens gathered in
front of City Hall, the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec will officially proclaim
the 150th Anniversary Celebrations of the City of Saint-Lambert open. Among
those attending this opening ceremony will be Saint-Lambert Mayor Sean Finn,
MNA Nicole Ménard, MP Maka Kotto, and numerous dignitaries, including former
mayors and city councillors.
The Chief Herald of Canada, Ms. Claire Boudreau, will be presenting city
representatives with the city's official Coat of Arms. The contents of the
125th anniversary's "time capsule," a container holding historical records and
objects that were representative of that anniversary year, will be on display
for a glimpse back into the city's history.
During this event also, the Mouillepied Historical Society will launch a
book on the city's 150 years and will unveil the new Heritage Circuit, which
citizens and visitors can tour all summer long.
Following the ceremony, citizens will be invited to mingle and get into
the celebration spirit with a piece of birthday cake.
The 150th anniversary festivities, organized by a corporation largely
composed of citizen volunteers, will offer citizens many opportunities to
enjoy special moments together, to meet up with friends, and to discuss their
origins as well as our city's history. Some thirty events will be taking place
from now until Christmas.
