Letter to the editor - National Council of Veteran Associations

    OTTAWA, Dec. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Following yesterday's announcement of Mark
O'Neill as the new Director General of the Canadian War Museum, I forwarded a
congratulatory letter to Mr. O'Neill on behalf of the 56 organizations in the
National Council of Veteran Associations. Please find the text of this letter
below:

    Dear Mark:

Speaking on behalf of the 56 organizations in the National Council of
Veteran Associations, it is my privilege to offer sincere congratulations
    to you on your appointment.

I was interviewed by Paul Gessell of the Ottawa Citizen this afternoon
and was able to tell him that we can now look forward to working together
to continue to develop the Canadian War Museum as a world-class
    institution.

My understanding is that you are aware of our suggestion that we need to
    lay the groundwork for consultation.

With you at the helm, this should be an easy, fruitful and productive
    road ahead.

You are well aware of the helpful role which veterans can take, and I
feel sure that we can now look forward to a helpful and stable
    relationship.

    Kind regards,
    Yours sincerely,
    (signed)
    H. Clifford Chadderton, CC, O.Ont., OStJ, CLJ, CAE, DCL, LLD
    Chairman
