    TORONTO, April 8 /CNW/ - Sixteen teams, eight series and one dream. CBC'S
HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA raises the curtain on Round One of the
highly-anticipated 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. ET
with a jam-packed schedule featuring an expanded HD offering that includes
more than double the amount of games available in High-Definition. From the
first puck drop to the hoisting of the Stanley Cup in June, CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT
IN CANADA will be front and centre, bringing Canadians wall-to-wall coverage
of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and exclusive Canadian coverage of the Stanley Cup
Final in High-Definition.
    CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA coverage of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs
marks the first time viewers will be able to see CBC's exclusive pre- and
post-game coverage live at cbcsports.ca. Hockey Night Online - a new and
exciting video streaming telecast available at cbcsports.ca - will broadcast
the pre-game warm-up and pre-game environment forty-five minutes prior to the
start of each CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA playoff game. Following each game,
Hockey Night Online will stream an informative post-game show including
highlights, interviews, stats and press conferences involving coaches of the
respective teams.

    Ron MacLean, host of CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, sets the stage from
the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in Toronto each night during Round One, along
with Don Cherry and Kelly Hrudey. Edmonton Oilers assistant coach and former
Stanley Cup champion Craig Simpson will also join MacLean in-studio throughout
Round One to provide his insight and analysis of all the first round action.
    On Wednesday, April 11, CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA kicks off its 2007
Stanley Cup Playoff schedule with a must-see doubleheader. The action gets
underway at 7 p.m. ET when Jason Spezza and the Senators host 2007 Art Ross
Trophy winner Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins at Scotiabank Place in
Ottawa. Bob Cole will call the series alongside analyst Greg Millen and host
Elliotte Friedman. In the nightcap of the twin bill, CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN
CANADA will go rinkside at GM Place in Vancouver at 10 p.m. ET as Roberto
Luongo and the Canucks kick off their series versus Mike Modano and the Dallas
Stars. Scott Oake will host this Western Conference Quarterfinal best-of-seven
showdown alongside play-by-play commentator Jim Hughson and analyst Harry

    CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA continues the post-season momentum on
Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. ET as Miikka Kiprusoff leads the Calgary Flames
into Detroit to take on Pavel Datsyuk and the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.
Host Steve Armitage, play-by-play commentator Don Wittman and analyst Drew
Remenda will follow this Western Conference Quarterfinal series. (Please see

    On Saturday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. ET, CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA sets
the stage with Saturday Night, the pre-game show, followed by Martin Brodeur
and the New Jersey Devils facing off against 2007 Maurice Richard Trophy
winner Vincent Lecavalier and the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. ET in the
second game of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Series. Mark Lee will
call the New Jersey/Tampa Bay series, and will be joined by analyst John

    CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs broadcast package
contains other exciting elements including the Bring Home the Stanley Cup
contest, available at cbc.ca/bringhomethecup. Presented by CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT
IN CANADA, Bring Home the Stanley Cup offers participants a chance to win a
one-of-a-kind hockey shrine designed by CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, an
Ultimate Playoff Party for 20 people and the official Stanley Cup delivered to
their home by six-time Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier. As part of the Bring
Home the Stanley Cup contest, eight segments hosted by CBC's George
Stroumboulopoulos featuring Canadian NHL players and personalities discussing
their personal playoff rituals and traditions will air during CBC'S HOCKEY
NIGHT IN CANADA Stanley Cup playoff games. In addition, highlights from the
grand prize winner's playoff party will be broadcast during the first game of
the Stanley Cup Final (date and time TBD).
    CBC's Playoff Pool, available at cbcsports.ca/hockeypool07, will also
take place throughout the course of the post-season featuring weekly prizes
and a cash prize total of $30,000 - with $20,000 going to the grand prize
winner. And, for the first time ever on CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, fans
will be able to vote for the three stars of each game either online at
cbcsports.ca/3stars or by text messaging their vote to a number provided
during the broadcast. Weekly prizes will also be available to viewers who
participate in the three stars voting.
    Hockey fans can visit cbcsports.ca 24 hours a day, seven days a week
during the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs for live and on-demand video streaming of
pre- and post-game broadcasts as well as comprehensive coverage, including
weekly columns from analyst Scott Morrison, breaking news, in-depth reports,
