EDMONTON, June 21 /CNW/ - It is with great pleasure that Legal Aid
Alberta (LAA) announces the appointment of Jacquie Schaffter as the new
President and CEO of Legal Aid Alberta, effective August 1, 2007. After
conducting a nationwide search, LAA's Board of Directors believes it has
chosen an excellent leader who will guide Legal Aid Alberta's efforts as it

services for people in need throughout Alberta.
Jacquie has been with Legal Aid Alberta since 2001, first as Staff
Counsel for the Family Law Office and currently as Senior Counsel for the
Family Law Office. Prior to joining LAA she was a partner in a full service
law firm with emphasis in her practice on family law, wills and estates, and
dependent adult work.

as a member of the Board of St. Mary's Hospital Foundation. She previously
served for six years as an elected school trustee for the City of Camrose in
the Battle River Regional School District, serving as Vice Chairman for two
years. Jacquie also served as a Board member for the Ribstone (East Central)
