TORONTO, May 1 /CNW/ - Members of the media are invited to attend a
national conference, Building our Future: Solutions for Today, designed to
provide Certified Canadian Immigration Consultants (CCICs) with the resources
necessary to offer consumers who pay a fee for immigration services added
protection. The two-day conference is jointly hosted by the Canadian Society
of Immigration Consultants (CSIC) and the Canadian Migration Institute.
"CCICs play a valuable role protecting the hopes and dreams of
prospective immigrants to Canada," said Ryan. "The conference will provide
CCICs with up-to-date knowledge of Canadian immigration law and procedures,
the ultimate goal of which is to help Canada by helping immigrants."
The Honourable Monte Solberg, former minister of Citizenship and
Immigration Canada and minister of Human Resources and Development Canada,
will open day one of the conference with an address about his views of CSIC
and the state of regulation in Canada today.
Other notable speakers who will share their thoughts on Canada and place
in the world today are The Right Honourable Joe Clark, former prime minister
of Canada and Canadian foreign minister; Peter Mansbridge, chief correspondent
of CBC Television News and anchor of the National; and John Ibbitson,
Washington correspondent for the Globe and Mail.
"It is important to hear the thoughts and opinions of immigration experts
and notable Canadians who work outside the immigration consulting profession,"
said Ryan. "Hearing the thoughts of guest speakers will allow CCICs to reflect
on the environment within which they work."
