Leading American Company Makes its Mark in Pickering

PICKERING, ON, May 29 /CNW/ - Ennis Paint, a global leader in traffic
safety, has opened its newest Canadian base of operations at 850 McKay Road in
Pickering.
Founded in 1976, Ennis Paint is in the business of saving lives with its
industry leading traffic paint and thermoplastic products. Over the years, it
has made an unyielding commitment to the development of new and improved
technologies, while also helping to develop new standards for traffic safety.
Currently, it operates nine manufacturing plants in the United States with
numerous other facilities worldwide.
Sitting on 6.5 acres, this 76,400 square foot facility will serve as the
headquarters for Ennis Paint's aggressive expansion into Canada's
infrastructure market. "The Canadian market is very critical to Ennis Paint
and the Pickering site is strategically located to best service our customer
base," said John Midea, Chief Operating Officer. "The City of Pickering has
been a tremendous asset throughout the entire process and we anticipate this
location will become one of our top facilities globally."
"Pickering is proud to be the Canadian home of a global leader such as
Ennis Paint," said Mayor Dave Ryan. "While this is a coup for Pickering, it
also reaffirms our burgeoning reputation as a preferred place to do business."
In addition to Ennis Paint's arrival, Pickering is enjoying a hot streak
of positive economic development news. For example, Aker Solutions relocated
from Toronto to a new $18 million facility; SNC Lavalin Nuclear Inc. recently
opened a new office; Purdue Pharma will break ground this summer on a $32
million expansion; and a new 132,000 square foot LEED certified Class A office
tower will begin construction this August in our downtown.

As the gateway to the east GTA, Pickering (population 94,000) is
strategically located where Toronto, York and Durham Regions meet and has been
recognized by Profit magazine as one of the ten best cities in Canada for
growth companies. Pickering's downtown has been named by the Province of
Ontario as an Urban Growth Centre and future Anchor Mobility Hub. The City of
Pickering is considered a municipal leader in fiscal management, service
delivery, sustainability and the environment. In 2008, it received the
FCM-CH2M Hill Sustainable Community Planning Award. With its direct access to
major highways, educated and skilled labour force, prime employment lands, a
world class EN3 (Energy/Environmental/Engineering) sector, and supportive
municipal government, Pickering offers unrivalled competitive advantages for
business.
