TORONTO, Oct. 16 /CNW Telbec/ - On Saturday October 18th after three
years of noise, dirt and dust, Lawrence Park Community Church is ready to
resume full programming in our newly renovated building.
The goal of the renovation was to create a welcoming space that would
benefit the whole community. All of our space is fully accessible to children
in strollers and folks with disabilities and environmentally aware with a new
Geothermal Heating system to provide climate control that is low in cost,
quiet, and ecologically responsible.
"It's been a long and, at times, trying process" according to one of the
church's ministers, Rev. Ken Gallinger. "But the new building reflects the
congregation's mission of being open, welcoming and community oriented. So
it's worth all the hassle! "
Grand Re-Opening festivities kick off Saturday morning with a Community
Celebration. This family-friendly affair will feature live outdoor music by
Toronto's Roaring Girls Cabaret and the Lawrence Park Collegiate Jazz Band, a
BBQ lunch, and the official ribbon cutting ceremony. Tour the new building,
stay and play in the Children's Garden "KidZone", and stroll through LPCC's
very own Global Marketplace, which will feature a variety of international and
fair trade retailers.
On Sunday morning at 10:30 am, the congregation will gather for worship
in the new sanctuary. While not yet totally finished, the congregation is
anxious to get into the new worship space, and see what all the excitement is
Lawrence Park Community Church is committed to being a radically
inclusive and welcoming congregation. We preach and live a Good News that is
contemporary and challenging. Whatever age you may be, whatever stage of
exploring faith you may be at, you will find support, encouragement and mental
stimulation in our congregation.
