Law Society Tribunal Decisions



    TORONTO, Aug. 29 /CNW/ - The Law Society of Upper Canada regulates the
lawyers and paralegals of Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society
ensures that all lawyers and licensed paralegals in Ontario meet standards of
learning, professional competence and professional conduct that are
appropriate for the legal services provided.
    As part of this mandate, the Law Society's Hearing Panel or Appeal Panel
recently heard the following matters. Hearing Panels and Appeal Panels are
responsible for determining the appropriate disposition of cases.

    
    Brian Joseph Doucette (2004), of the City of St. Catharines
    Decision: The Lawyer's licence is revoked.

    Frank Fazio (1973), of the City of Sarnia
    Decision: The suspension ordered by the Hearing Panel on July 16, 2008,
    shall commence September 13, 2008.

    Henry Josef Gertner (1973), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: The Lawyer's licence is suspended on an interim interlocutory
    basis effective August 13, 2008, and continuing until the Law Society's
    motion is disposed of or until further order of the Hearing Panel.

    Stephen Peter Hersey (1982), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: The Lawyer shall be reprimanded. The decision is under appeal
    by the Lawyer.

    Steven Gary Kaminker (1986), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for three months, commencing on the day
    that the suspension ordered with respect to Notice of Application CN72/07
    has concluded, and continuing indefinitely until certain conditions are
    met.

    Edmund Manna-Atta Kwaw (1996), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for one month, commencing on
    September 7, 2008.

    Peter Poulakis (1995), of the Town of Whitby
    Decision: The Lawyer shall repay the Compensation Fund.
