Law Society Tribunal Decisions



    TORONTO, Jan. 22 /CNW/ - The Law Society regulates the legal profession
in the public interest.
    As part of this mandate, the Law Society's Hearing and Appeal Panels
recently heard the following matters. Hearing and Appeal Panels are composed
of Law Society benchers - lawyers and lay people who are responsible for
determining the appropriate disposition of cases.

    Thomas Charles O'Malley (1992), of the City of Oshawa
    Decision: The Licensee is reprimanded.

    Shane Smith (2004), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: Mr. Smith is reprimanded.

    Anna Malgorzata Szpirak (1996), of the City of Mississauga.
    Decision: The Licensee is reprimanded.

    Michael James Taylor (1986), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: The Licensee is suspended for 3.5 months, continuing
    indefinitely until the Licensee has met specific terms and conditions.

    Norma Jean Walton (1995), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: The Lawyer is reprimanded.

    Mark Winter (1976), of the City of Toronto
    Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for one month, commencing January 14,
    2008.

    Bradly Johnston Vance (1985), of the Town of Whitby
    Decision: The Lawyer is reprimanded. The Lawyer will meet certain
    conditions, failing which, he will be suspended indefinitely until the
    conditions are met.

    Pieter Carel Verbeek (1984), of the City of Mississauga
    Decision: The Licensee is suspended for three months, commencing
    January 1, 2008, or on a date to be agreed upon between the Law Society
    and the Licensee. On the resumption of practice, the Licensee shall
    participate in a practice review program.
