SAGUENAY, QC, Feb. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Laval Tremblay, a founding member
and Managing Director of Chlorophylle and Daniel Lemay, Operations Manager
since 1998, are proud to announce they have acquired Chlorophylle, owned and
operated by Louis Garneau Sports since June 2003.
A number of partners are associated with this project and have greatly
contributed to its achievement. They include the following: Economic
Development Canada (EDC Canada), through the Société d'aide aux collectivités
du Fjord (Fjord Community Futures Development Corporation - SADC), Fonds
régional de solidarité de la FTQ (QFL Regional Solidarity Fund), Fonds
d'intervention économique régional du Saguenay--Lac-Saint-Jean
(Saguenay--Lac-Saint-Jean Regional Economic Intervention Fund - FIER) and
Accès Capital Québec's Fund III (provider of venture capital).
Messrs Tremblay and Lemay want to highlight the fact that this business
transaction allows to keep the Quebec-based gem in the region and protect and
secure existing jobs. "Chlorophylle's Head Office will remain in Saguenay
City, and we have set our minds to building something exceptional."
From now on, Chlorophylle and Louis Garneau Sports will focus on their
respective strengths: Chlorophylle on the upscale outdoor clothing market
niche and LGS on top-end cycling, skiing and outdoor clothing and accessories.
Nevertheless, the last four years have been nothing less than beneficial for
both businesses. Chlorophylle has gained a lot of maturity and diversified its
collections. "Today, we are better able to move forward on this new
adventure," stated Laval Tremblay.
No one can accuse the new owners of lacking vision, and the birth of the
new Chlorophylle forecasts a bright future. Primary objectives include
positioning the company as an industry front-runner and making each and every
one of its product lines easily accessible to Quebecers and target markets.
Chlorophylle's new marketing approach will be developed in accordance with its
partners, customers and current suppliers and launched within the next few
years. It will include an expanded network of exclusive shops, especially in
certain markets where the brand is under-represented. Furthermore, the new
approach will also focus on strengthening business relations with a certain
number of our privileged partners to ensure the continued expansion of
Chlorophylle's product offerings.
The company is totally dedicated to promoting environment-friendly,
long-lasting, versatile and natural products that are part of a promising
niche that has the brightest of outlooks. The use of natural fibres, whether
recycled or not, organic cotton, etc. are now part of the performance
specifications that are at the basis of our product development process.
Moreover, our team is proud of the innovative approach it has developed to
furnish our exclusive shops. In joint-partnership with a Saint-Gédéon
craftsman, we design and build the majority of the equipment we need. Indeed,
cash counters, changing rooms, displays, etc. are all made of recycled
materials taken from empty farm buildings designated for demolition.
Chlorophylle is renowned the world over in the upscale outdoor clothing
