MONTREAL, Jan. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - L'Auguste rendez-vous presents at the
chic cabaret Lion d'Or, the infamous Red Bastard, America's premiere bouffon
and New York's King of Fools ! This one-man bouffon show stars critically
acclaimed Red Bastard as a grotesque, yet disarmingly charming creature, whose
enormous ego is matched only be his colossal red ass. Ridiculously rotund,
with the agile moves of a nymph, Red Bastard flits and waddles his way into
the audience's memory, never to be forgotten. Highly interactive, Red
Bastard's performances are a dialogue with the audience where anything could
happen. If clown is complete vulnerability, Red Bastard is its antithesis.
With exquisite monstrosity, he employs charm and biting wit to playfully
manipulate the audience. Lines will be crossed and laughs will be had. His
bold wit and physical prowess have been lauded by critics and audiences alike.
Eric Davis is the Red Bastard, and currently resides in New York. His
original creations have won him both critical and audience acclaim. He
performs and teaches internationally. Lauded as one of the premiere clowns of
our time, Mr. Davis is setting the worlds of comedy and theater on fire with
his contemporary and original creations. A master improviser, clown and
bouffon, his work ranges from subtle and realistic to the absurd. His work has
been described by critics as "genius" "subversive" and "very, very funny". In
2007, Mr. Davis was nominated for a Golden Nose for Clown of the Year in New
York. In addition, he was a Finalist for the NY Comedy Festival's Andy Kaufman
Award, and the award winning director and co-writer of The Bouffon Glass
Menajoree which was nominated for Best Director, Best Script, Best Ensemble
and Best Production by the NY Innovative Theatre Awards. Mr. Davis is a
Founder and Co- Director of the NY Clown Theatre Festival, an international
festival celebrating and promoting the art of contemporary theatrical Clown.
