Lambton Kent Elementary Teachers Ink Tentative Deal

TORONTO, April 24 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers, members of
the Lambton Kent Elementary Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers'
Federation of Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative agreement with the Lambton
Kent District School Board this afternoon following a lengthy bargaining
session.
"This is a good settlement for elementary teachers and for the community
of Lambton Kent. It provides improved working conditions for our members which
will create the environment for better learning conditions for all elementary
students," said ETFO President David Clegg.
"Our negotiating team was able to negotiate improvements in both our
daily working conditions and benefits. This agreement is definitely an
improvement over our previous one," said Ron Rivait, President of the ETFO
Lambton Kent Teacher Local.
Details of the agreement will be available following a members'
ratification vote.
The Lambton Kent Elementary Teacher Local represents approximately 850
elementary teachers. Their contract expired August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
