TORONTO, June 4 /CNW/ - Labrador Iron Mines Holdings Limited (TSX: LIM)
is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Dufort to the position of
Vice President of Operations for Labrador Iron Mines Limited.
Mr. Dufort is a mining engineer with extensive experience in mine
development and management for major producers and in the mining services
industry. Most recently, as project manager for business development at
SNC-Lavalin Inc., he initiated the original engineering study in 2007 for
Labrador Iron Mines' Schefferville Area direct shipping iron ore project. He
has continued to act in a senior advisory capacity to the Project to the
present. Prior to joining SNC-Lavalin, Mr. Dufort was Vice-President of Sales
and Operations for Orica Canada Inc. from 1999 to 2006 and previously worked
for Lac Minerals as well as Noranda Inc. A graduate of Ecole Polytechnique in
Montreal with a B.Sc. in 1979, he has developed an expertise in the areas of
feasibility, construction and project management, having initiated and
implemented evaluations towards successful mining project start-ups.
Mr. Dufort will be responsible for all the design, engineering and
operational aspects of the Company's direct shipping iron ore operations in
Western Labrador through production. In addition to supervising both the
engineering staff and the site operations in Western Labrador, he will manage
the various consultants working on the Project. The site activities will
comprise initial construction this year followed by commercial production
expected to commence by mid-2010.
