Kwinter To Promote Ontario To The World

Premier Appoints Monte Kwinter As Chair Of The Ontario Investment And
Trade Advisory Council, Parliamentary Assistant For Investment And Trade

    QUEEN'S PARK, Nov. 7 /CNW/ - Monte Kwinter's expertise as a businessman,
his skill in international relations and his experience as former Minister of
Industry, Trade and Technology make him the only choice to help promote
investment in Ontario, Premier Dalton McGuinty said today.
"We're an activist government and the challenges facing Ontario in an
increasingly competitive global economy require us to do even more to attract
investment and opportunity - there is simply no one better equipped to lead
our efforts than Monte Kwinter," said Premier McGuinty.
Kwinter will chair the Ontario Investment and Trade Advisory Council,
where he will support the government's efforts to boost Ontario's prosperity
through greater investment and exports. These efforts will help strengthen and
diversify Ontario's markets and build on our strengths as an economically and
culturally diverse province.
"I'm excited at the opportunity to share Ontario's great economic story
with the world and help build opportunity here at home for Ontario families,"
said Kwinter. "We're going to make sure the world knows that nobody works
harder or smarter than Ontarians, and that there is no better place to do
business."
Kwinter has served the people of Ontario for over 20 years as a member of
the Ontario legislature. He has been Minister of Consumer and Commercial
Relations, Minister of Financial Institutions, Minister of Industry, Trade and
Technology and Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
He was president of a trading company that did business in Mexico, China
and various republics of the former Soviet Union. He holds a bachelor of fine
arts degree, an honourary master of international business degree and an
honourary doctor of laws degree.
Kwinter also has a long record of community service. He served as chair
of the Toronto Harbour Commission, vice president of the Ontario College of
Art, founding president of the Toronto Regional Council of B'nai Brith and
chair of the International Advisory Board, Bishkek International School of
Management and Business.
Kwinter was also appointed as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of
Economic Development and Trade, with responsibility for investment and trade.
"I look forward to working with Monte and know that all Ontarians will
benefit from his great expertise in global trade and investment," said
Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sandra Pupatello.
"I have the utmost confidence in Monte - in his passion for public
service, in his vast experience, in his exceptional work ethic and, above all,
in his devotion to the hard-working families of this province and moving us
all forward, together," said Premier McGuinty. "We are a better province for
his years of service - and we will be an even stronger province in the future
as he assumes his new leadership role."
