THETFORD MINES, QC, Jan. 15 /CNW/ - During a special program that aired
yesterday evening on the CBC network, Thetford Mines was selected among ten
Canadian cities susceptible to deserve the title of Kraft Hockeyville 2009. It
is during a gathering at the local Cage aux Sports that the community of
Thetford Mines, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, learned the good news. The
atmosphere reached its maximum when the name of the city of Thetford Mines was
revealed! And it restarted a new voting period from January 14th till January
The mayor of Thetford Mines, Mr. Luc Berthold, took advantage of this
occasion to ask the citizens of Thetford Mines and the population of
Chaudieres-Appalaches to vote quickly and to seek the vote of all.
The spokesman of the candidature committee, the hockey player Mr. Serge
Poudrier, demonstrated for his part a lot of enthusiasm on the chances to move
on to the next stage and to be a part of the "Top 5" and represent Quebec!
Vote now and often, until January 18th, 11:59 pm! The voting period has
started and ends on Sunday, January 18th, 2009 at 11:59 pm EST. The public can
vote as often as they wish using one of the following three (3) ways:

3) By text messaging VOTE THETFORD MINES at 222111 (regular fees will be
applied by your service provider)
The popular vote will allow 5 of the 10 cities selected to move on to the
next stage. Certainly, in Quebec, a city will be a part of the Top 5. Thetford
Mines and all of Chaudieres-Appalaches wants to be there!
Besides the important visibility in Canada, the Canadian city that will
deserve the title of Kraft Hockeyville will have the privilege to present a
preseason game of the NHL and will also be awarded $100,000 that can be
invested for improvements in the arena. It is to say that your vote could be
worth $100,000! Then all the young people practicing ice sports in Thetford
Mines would benefit!
