    Soul Hybrid and KOUP Concepts
    -----------------------------

The latest models in Kia's expanding eco-friendly research and
development and design are the Soul Hybrid and KOUP concept vehicles. The Soul
Hybrid is making its North American premiere in Montreal - complete with a
panoramic powered folding fabric roof.
The Soul Hybrid concept features Kia's Gamma 1.6-litre gasoline engine,
mated to an alternating current (AC) synchronized electric motor and Kia's own
CVT (continuously variable transmission).
Indicative of where Kia's substantial investment in future technologies
and design is going, the Soul Hybrid concept is an indicator of the targets
set for future product development. By bringing together great design with
cutting edge technology, Kia is aiming to bring the best of worlds, design and
technology, into the hands of its customers.
Making its Canadian debut today at the Montreal Auto Show was the Kia
KOUP Concept vehicle. By combining the youthful excitement with a sporty and
sleek design, the KOUP concept illustrates the shape and evolution of future
Kia vehicles.
Originating from the Kia Motors America Design Center in Irvine, Calif.,
the KOUP concept embodies Kia's philosophy of "Exciting and Enabling" with its
balanced proportions and fluid design set to evoke an emotional driving
experience.
The KOUP's concept's design features balanced proportions and fluid
design. From the tab-shaped and purposeful upper grille to the high-tech
headlamps, the front fascia's form gives the vehicle a bold and aggressive
stance.
The KOUP concept features all of the standard safety features offered in
Kia's regular production vehicle lineup including six standard airbags and a
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
paired with CDC helps to stabilize the KOUP for maximum contact with the
pavement. The large 245/40ZR19 tires complete the KOUP's impressive package.
Also included is adaptive front lighting and cruise control, adding to the
KOUP's advanced safety technology.
