MONTREAL, April 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Kangaroo Media will be offering golf
spectators at the 2009 U.S. Open the ultimate personalized hand held
multimedia sports fan enhancement experience. Spectators will have the
opportunity to use the Kangaroo TV hand-held device to access a comprehensive
suite of video content, including content from USOPEN.com, and comprehensive
championship and player data, anywhere on the course in real time.
Users of the Kangaroo devices will have the best of both worlds: they
will be able to experience the live play and excitement of the national
championship at Bethpage State Park's Black Course, while tapping into the
rich live video coverage, high-quality video clips and comprehensive data
feeds that are typically characteristic of TV viewing. The video handheld
enables fans to personalize their viewing, bringing them even closer to the
action and their favorite players anywhere on the course. In all, more than
3000 devices will be used daily throughout the 4-day U.S. Open.
"We have been the technological leader in fan experience for golf over
the past few years. This has given us the insight to tailor our service so it
enhances the experience of golf spectators on course," said Robert Mimeault,
President and CEO of Kangaroo Media. "It gives the spectator the ability to
view the action at any hole on the course. Being able to fully implement and
roll-out our service at the 2009 U.S. Open is another milestone that confirms
the value of our fan enhancement program and our business proposition to
sponsors of many different types of sporting events. Just as importantly, it
meets the profitability requirements of our new business model."
