Kahnawà:ke Grand Chief Makes Statement on Peacekeeper Operation



    KAHNAWA:KE, QC, March 26 /CNW Telbec/ - The Mohawk Council of Kahnawa:ke
wishes to inform the community that the organization strongly supports the
actions taken by the Kahnawake Peacekeepers earlier today. The Peacekeepers
led a multi-jurisdictional police operation this morning aimed at dismantling
an international criminal organization dealing in illicit drugs and money
laundering.
    Several Kahnawa'kehrs:non were arrested.
    "The Mohawk Council of Kahnawa:ke fully supports this Peacekeeper-led
initiative," said Grand Chief Mike Ahrihrhon Delisle Jr. "We are pleased that
it appears to have been very successful and, additionally, took place without
incident or injury.
    The Grand Chief went on to say, "We do not - and will not - support such
illegal activity within the Territory. Anyone who chooses to take part in such
activities should take warning."
