The Milestone release is an important step toward the next version of
IntelliJ IDEA, designed to help developers stay in sync with the latest
technologies, frameworks and languages.
"We want to demonstrate the progress we've made toward IntelliJ IDEA 9
and show developers what it has in store for them," said Max Shafirov,
IntelliJ IDEA project lead. "A milestone release is also a great chance for
our users to voice their opinions and provide input on areas that still need
improvement. We will carefully evaluate and utilize all feedback. Developers,
in turn, can already start using the latest features we've implemented."
IntelliJ IDEA 9 continues to expand developers' possibilities with the
following new features and improvements:
- Optimized overall performance and usability
- Improved core Java development facilities
- Java EE 6 support
- Tapestry and OSGi integration
- An optimized project indexing engine
- Support for Android and Google App Engine
- Global project-wide code analysis
- Improved Flex support
- GWT 1.6 support
- And much more
