LONGUEUIL, QC, June 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Delegates from the Fédération des
producteurs de porcs du Québec (FPPQ) gathered at the Annual General Assembly
on the 11th of June have elected Mr. Jean-Guy Vincent unopposed for a second
consecutive term as President of the Fédération. Mr. Vincent has held the
position since February of 2007 when he became the acting president following
the departure of Mr. Claude Corbeil. He was officially elected on the 11th of
"I see this new term as an affirmation of trust from the delegates,"
declared Mr. Vincent. "We worked tirelessly to arrive at an agreement that
involved negotiations with the entire sector and I am very honoured to be able
to pursue the work."
Mr. Vincent and his wife Lise Trépanier have owned their hog farm since
1971. A man of action, concerned with defending producers' interests, Mr.
Vincent has consecutively held the positions of First Vice-President of the
Syndicat des producteurs de porcs du Centre-du-Québec (1990-1995) and
President of the Syndicat des producteurs de porcs du Centre-du-Québec
(1996-2007). In 1996, he rose to the Board of Directors of the FPPQ as well as
the Fédération de l'UPA in the Centre-du-Québec (1996-2007) region. Between
1991 and 2002, he remained involved on the local level as Administrator of the
Bois-Franc district. Mr. Vincent has presided over many committees within the
Fédération des producteurs de porcs du Québec.
It should also be noted that two members of the Board of Directors have
moved to the Executive Committee: Mr. Normand Martineau from Québec has taken
the position of 1st Vice-President and Mr. René Leblanc from Centre-du-Québec
has taken the position of 1st member of the Executive Committee. Mr. Robert
Monty from Saint-Hyacinthe and Mrs. Lise Grenier from Beauce retain their
positions as 2nd Vice-President and 2nd member of the Executive Committee.
The Board of Directors of the FPPQ, in addition to the president, is made
up of the presidents of all regional associations and marketing committees.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the general management of the FPPQ,
ensuring that decisions made at the Annual General Assembly are followed up,
while the Executive Committee implements decisions made by the Board of
