TORONTO, Feb. 12 /CNW/ - When it comes to Valentine's Day, although
81 per cent of Canadians say the whole thing is just a lot of hype, 56 per
cent admit they'll secretly be blue if their partner doesn't put in a little
extra effort on February 14th.
So says a new 2008 Ipsos-Reid survey of 1,792 Canadians aged 30 and up,
commissioned by Pfizer Canada, the manufacturer of VIAGRA(R).
One surprising highlight? Cupid's bow may need a little tune-up since
only 11 per cent of Canadians over 30 expect to get lucky on the big night.
While 31 per cent said they probably will have sex, the majority (58 per cent)
predict they probably or definitely won't have sex on February 14th.
In addition to sex and chocolate, the survey shows that the majority of
Canadians are secretly yearning for:
- Celebration at home with a special dinner 27% 21%
- Romantic dinner or date 19% 25%
- Seduction 19% 6%
- Romantic or sexy weekend away 11% 9%
- Flowers or chocolates 2% 12%
- Poem or love note 3% 6%
- 85 per cent of men would rather have sex than chocolate on
- 52 per cent of women would prefer chocolate over sex on Valentine's
