itravel2000 brings back Let It Snow program

Leading travel retailer encourages Canadians to 'think snow' this summer

TORONTO, June 17 /CNW/ - itravel2000 today kicked off its successful Let
It Snow program that will again have Canadians from coast to coast wishing for
snow this New Years Day. The Let It Snow program will reward Canadians with a
free winter vacation if it snows more than five inches on January 1, 2009.
Thousands of Canadians entered into the 2007/08 Let it Snow campaign, the
largest travel promotion in Canadian history. Last year, participants in
Quebec won free trips when more than 5 inches fell at the airport in Montreal.
Participants in Toronto missed out on free trips by about an inch.
Participants from Atlantic Canada had lots of snow the day before New Years
Day and the day after.
"We're thrilled to bring back the Let it Snow program this year. It was
an incredible success last year - participants from Quebec won their vacations
and Canadians across the country were excited to see how much it was really
going to snow on New Years Day," said Jonathan Carroll, President of
itravel2000. "We expect this year's program to be an even bigger success and
that Canadians will see they really have nothing to lose and possibly lots to
gain when they book their winter vacation now with itravel2000."
Anyone who books a qualifying vacation with itravel2000 between June 17
and October 19, 2008 can win their vacation for free - if it snows more than
5 inches on January 1, 2009. If it snows enough, consumers will receive a
cheque to reimburse them for the retail price(less taxes and fees), of their
vacation upon their return.
To be eligible, Canadians must book their vacations between June 17 and
October 19, 2008 for departures between November 1, 2008 and April 30, 2009.
itravel2000 has partnered with Sunwing Vacations, Sunquest Vacations,
Signature Vacations, Tour East Holidays and Mexico for this exclusive
promotion.
Club Med is new this year while the addition of Tour East Holidays adds
exotic destinations like China, Indochina, Dubai and India to the promotion.
Sunwing has expanded their offering for Let it Snow, adding Las Vegas and
Florida.
The Let it Snow program will be covered by WeatherBill, the world's only
online weather risk management service that allows businesses to protect
revenue from the effects of bad weather. "We have taken out the largest
single-day weather coverage in history. WeatherBill's significant risk
capacity and simple, automated service for managing weather risk and
promotions make them the perfect partner given the large scale of the Let it
Snow program," said Carroll.
Canadian consumers who book with itravel2000 will qualify based upon
postal code and where they live in Canada. There will be four snow measurement
points across Canada. The snow measurement point for Atlantic Canada is
Halifax, for Quebec it is Montreal, for Ontario it is Toronto and for western
Canada, the territories and Nunavut the snow measurement point is Calgary.
"Following one of the snowiest winters in Canadian history, we can only
hope for another one. I think Canadians would agree that a free vacation would
be well worth it," said Carroll.
To promote the campaign, Jonathan Carroll will tour Toronto and Montreal
with a giant beach-themed snow globe to launch the 2008/9 campaign. He will be
accompanied by a Snow Team who will be handing out snowflakes to onlookers who
will have the chance to win a $1,000 itravel2000 gift certificate.
