Italian researchers and scientists present their innovations in North America

A delegation from Campania Region aims to promote technology transfers.

MONTREAL, Sept. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - The Italian Chamber of Commerce in
Canada announced today that it has the privilege of welcoming a major
delegation of internationally renowned Italian researchers and scientists to
present their research work in North America.
The delegation, from the region of Campania, is composed of delegates
representing ten sectorial Centres of Competence, which are responsible for a
range of products and expertise, all at a market-ready stage. They are here to
promote technology transfers and establish joint ventures with U.S., Canadian
and Mexican companies.
"This mission to North America is part of a long-term strategy of global
internationalization that is being launched by Campania Region, aimed at
fostering a knowledge and innovation based economy," explained delegation
president Nicola Mazzocca, Regional Minister (Assessore) of Research,
Innovation and Universities for Campania Region. "Given the importance
accorded to innovation in the business models of companies on this side of the
Atlantic, North America represents for us an important and interesting market
for establishing links with a view to achieving mutual growth," added
Assessore Mazzocca.
"We have set up in Campania a system in which research and opportunities
in the world of innovation are extremely dynamic. This has enabled us to focus
our research-based offering, thanks also to the creation of regional Centres
of Competence, which coordinate all of the key research players in the
region," said the Assessore.
The delegation represents the following active sectors:

    - Assessment, reduction and management of environmental risks
    - Industrial biotechnologies
    - Sustainable development of the region
    - Information and communications technologies
    - Pharmaceutical and molecular diagnostics
    - Genomics
    - Conservation and promotion of cultural and environmental assets
    - Agrofood production and transformation
    - Advanced industrial materials and processes
    - Transport

Early contacts confirm strong potential and interest in the expertise and
technologies being presented by the Italian researchers and scientists.
In order to better prepare for their many meetings, the delegation
members are being briefed by Canadian and American experts on key issues and
specific aspects of doing business in North America, notably access to risk
capital, management of intellectual property and financing spin-offs.
