More than 250 million IP-X UHF RFID Chips delivered
BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 25 /CNW/ - IPICO Inc. (TSX-V:RFD) ("IPICO" or the
"Company") is pleased to report that EM Microelectronic ("EM"), the
semiconductor company of the Swatch Group of Marin, Switzerland, has to date
shipped over 250 million Tag-Talks-Only (TTO) UHF RFID chips. These chips are
based on IPICO's powerful IP-X technology platform and have been developed in
collaboration with EM. According to EM (see EM Microelectronic press release

portion of these tags is used in the manufacture of intelligent labels for
garment tagging in the fashion industry. This includes Marks & Spencer, which
uses them to improve their clothing in-store stock levels in what is widely
recognized as the world's largest item-level tagging project, thereby
establishing a de-facto standard in this field.
Other than UHF chips, IPICO and EM also developed IP-X based chips in the
dual frequency band, including chips with advanced features such as read/write
memory, battery assisted and tamper detect functionality. These are used in a
wide variety of applications and challenging "real world" environments that
range from the relatively simple to the highly complex.
