MONTREAL, Aug. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - Pointe-à-Callière, the Montréal Museum
of Archaeology and History invites you to
Pointe-à-Callière's 18th-Century Public Market
Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday August 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On place Royale and in the area around the Museum
Over the course of a single weekend, experience the authentic atmosphere
of Montréal's first public market with farmers, craftspeople, and entertainers
demonstrating their skills. Discerning gourmets will be delighted to taste
goods that are historically authentic: wild fruit jelly, chocolate truffles,
maple products, cheeses, lamb sausage, spruce beer and mushrooms.
Along with storytellers and musicians, the Market will be host to plenty
of other activities, with two military regiments, a Native encampment, and
some one hundred historical figures on site. The Public Market also gives
children the opportunity to dress up and discover old-time 18th century games,
play soldier by taking part in a parade, and learn about embroidery.
