Alpine Canada Alpin Athletes Emily Brydon and Chris Williamson Help Kid
Witness News Award Winners Celebrate Their HD Moments
TORONTO, April 20 /CNW/ - Budding young Canadian filmmakers will be
honoured today at the 18th annual Kid Witness News Awards at Toronto's
Panasonic Theatre. Armed with Panasonic's latest high-definition digital video
equipment, students from 25 schools from across the country were challenged to
write, produce and edit a short film to explore topics like communication, the
environment, racism and current social issues. Participating students will
gather in Toronto to celebrate their success and will have the opportunity to
speak with Canadian Alpine Ski Team member Emily Brydon and Canadian
Para-alpine Ski Team member Chris Williamson.
Last fall, Panasonic Canada announced a three-year partnership with
Alpine Canada Alpin to provide athletes and teams across the country with
funding and industry-leading digital technology. As a result, a select group
of skiers have been able to record their high-definition moments on and off
the slopes as they train and compete as some of Canada's best athletes.
Panasonic shares the same passion, dedication and commitment for the pursuit
of excellence demonstrated by Canadian alpine athletes and has invited Brydon
and Williamson to share some of her their stories with the next generation of
driven young Canadians.
Kid Witness News is an in-school video education program that provides
Canadian students from grades five to eight the opportunity to create their
own mini-movie on an issue of interest to both themselves and their community.
The program teaches students organizational and communications skills, helping
children develop creativity while reinforcing the importance of teamwork.
