TORONTO, June 4 /CNW/ - Rugby Canada, in partnership with Guinness, will
launch a nationwide search for a new anthem for Team Canada. With Canada
competing in the world cup in France this fall, a song of our own will give
Canadian rugby fans a way to show their support and spirit.
From New Zealand's Haka to the Scottish "Flower of Scotland," great rugby
nations are united through song and, beginning Monday, the search will begin
for a song that Canadian rugby fans can call their own.
Gareth Rees, retired Team Canada player who holds Canada's all-time
scoring record, is available to talk about Rugby in Canada, his experiences at
the World Cup and weneedasong.ca. Gareth is available on Monday June 4th and
the morning of Tuesday, June 5th.
He will also be at a Rugby Canada luncheon where media are invited to
join him and key Rugby Canada officials -an opportunity to get a thorough but
casual background briefing on Canada's national rugby picture and Team
Canada's road to the World Cup.
