MONTREAL, June 18 /CNW Telbec/ - As host of the International Energy
Forum that will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, Hydro-Québec is pleased to
welcome prestigious speakers and some of the world's leading experts.
Participants in the Forum will discuss timely questions related to a country's
energy choices and its socio-economic development.
Speeches at Tuesday's opening plenary session will be delivered by:
- Mr. Jean Lemierre, President of the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (BERD);
- Mr. Luc Montagnier, Professor Emeritus, Pasteur Institute,
Director of Research Emeritus at the Centre national de recherche
scientifique (CNRS), President, World Foundation for AIDS research
and prevention, credited with the discovery of the AIDS virus;
- Mr. Thierry Vandal, President and Chief Executive Officer,
Speakers at the morning session titled "Energy resources at the service of
society: Achieving genuine sustainable development" include:
- Mr. Claude Béchard, Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife,

- Mr. E. A. S. Sarma, Former Secretary, Ministry of Power,

regulation: looking for the right global mix", Forum participants will be able
to hear from:
- Mr. Vyacheslav Yurievich Sinyugin, CEO, HydroOGK and Member of the
Management Board of RAO UES;
- Mr. Christoph Frei, Energy Director, World Economic Forum, Davos;
- Mr. Carlos Federico Basanes, Coordinator of the Infrastructure
Fund, Inter-American Development Bank (BID).
These experts will exchange views on various models for reforming energy
sector regulation and conditions that will promote the long-term
sustainability of the world energy market.
