OTTAWA, June 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Federation of Medical Women of Canada
(FMWC) will be assisting members to speak up, speak out and speak together by
offering communication workshops in conjunction with our 84th Annual General
Meeting at the Palliser Fairmont Hotel in Calgary from June 22-23, 2008.
These workshops will offer strategies and tools to female physicians,
empowering them within their own communities. There will be opportunity for
interactive discussion with the speakers many of who have had a major impact
on the world of medicine and women's health. Other objectives for this meeting
are to strengthen a unified public voice for women physicians and to
facilitate networking between women physicians at the local, national and
international levels. Last but not least, we aim to build relationships that
will allow the FMWC to better meet its mission in the future.
There are a number of important matters currently being discussed in
parliament such as Bills C484 and C537. Women physicians need to speak up and
let our MPs know how we feel about these critical issues that relate to
women's health. The FMWC represents woman physicians in this country and
provides a powerful voice for change to help ensure our government recognizes
key issues and reacts in a way that will be beneficial.
Some of the workshops planned will be "Communicating about complex
medical issues"; "Advancing Vaccine through Immunology"; "Raising Conflict
Productively"; "Painless Pearls to Get your Message Across", and "Preparing
Today's Physician Leaders to Tell Medicines' story"-media training. A session
with valuable insights, titled "Finding Balance in a Fast Paced World" will be
offered to our medical students.
The media are invited to attend all of the workshops.
