Information Bulletin - Bolsover Road Swing Bridge closure to pedestrians - Trent-Severn Waterway

PETERBOROUGH, ON, May 12 /CNW Telbec/ - The Superintendent of the
Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada advises that the
Bolsover Road Swing Bridge in Bolsover (at 132 Bolsover Rd) is closed to all
pedestrian and vehicular traffic until late in the year 2010. The bridge will
be swung open on May 11, 2009 to allow for navigation on the Waterway and will
remain this way until end of navigation season. If possible, pedestrian
traffic will be allowed when the navigation season is closed.
Parks Canada has had the bridge assessed and has concluded that due to
structural failure the bridge is unsafe to operate until repairs are
completed.
Parks Canada is working with Public Works and Government Services to
ensure contracts are in place as quickly as possible.
Motorists asked to continue using the Boundary Road swing bridge or the
high level bridge at Regional Road 50 to cross the Waterway.
Parks Canada regrets the inconvenience caused by this closure and is
committed to completion of repairs as quickly as possible to restore normal
traffic flow.
