TORONTO, June 30 /CNW/ - Infantino LLC of San Diego, California announces
a voluntary recall in Canada of its Lobster Teethers and SeaPals Water
Teethers. The products are being voluntarily recalled because a test conducted
by Health Canada has revealed that the liquid filling of the Lobser Teether
may be contaminated with the bacteria Burkholderia tropica. These bacteria
generally do not cause illness; however, the bacteria may cause infection in
children with weakened immune systems if the teether is punctured and the
liquid filing from the teether is injested.
While Infantino's independent testing revealed no contamination,
Infantino has decided to recall the Lobster Teethers and the SeaPals Water
Teethers out of an abundance of caution.
Infantino has sold approximately 2,448 Lobster Teethers and 4,320 SeaPals
Water Teethers in Canada in the past twelve months. No reports of incidents,
injuries or punctures have been reported.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled product away from
children. For more information, consumers may visit www.infantino.com, or
contact Infantino by telephone at 1-888-808-3111 or by e-mail at
The affected units were sold by retailers in Ontario and Alberta.
The Lobster Teether body is red and is in the shape of a lobster, with
liquid-filled purple claws and can be identified by style number 150-3058 and
UPC 773554030587. The SeaPals Water Teethers are packaged in a box containing
two teethers: the Lobser Teether (as previously described) and a fish-shaped
teether with a yellow body and a liquid-filled blue tail. The SeaPals Water
Teethers can be identified by style number 150-3063 and UPC 773554030631.
