Industry veteran appointed to SilverBirch Board of Directors



    Mobile pioneer Michael J. O'Farrell adds further industry expertise to
    Board.

    TORONTO, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - SilverBirch Inc. (TSX.V: SVB) is pleased to
announce that Michael J. O'Farrell has joined its Board of Directors.
O'Farrell is currently the Chair and Executive Director of the dotMobi
Advisory Group, a mobile industry trade association, and is co-author of the
upcoming Wiley publication, Mobile Internet for Dummies.
    As a global expert on mobile and interactive digital media, O'Farrell is
widely considered an industry leading strategist. In addition to shaping the
early market practices of the Open Mobile Alliance, he was a co-founder of the
Wireless Advertising Industry Association in 2000 (now the Mobile Marketing
Association) and has launched new products and services with Nokia, Motorola
and Ericsson through mobile network operators world wide.

    Mr. O'Farrell's compensation will include the standard award of 100,000
Director's common share options, granted at the October 18th, 2007 closing
price of $0.24.
    In other business, meeting on October 18th, 2007, the Board also
finalized details of Mr. van der Plaat's previously announced grants of common
share options, with vesting tied to profitably exceeding $11 million in
revenue for fiscal 2008. Further options in the amount of 480,000 were granted
at a strike price of $0.24. They also approved a grant to Aberdeen Gould Inc.,
amounting to 400,000 common share options, also priced at $0.24, in
consideration of their successful completion of recent financial initiatives
designed to strengthen the Company's working capital, and its M&A activities.
