Deloitte, Lexpert(R), The Globe and Mail, and Thomson Financial will host the
inaugural 2007 Canadian Dealmakers Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation at the
Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto, Canada, Tuesday, April 15, 2008.
Celebrating the art of the deal, the awards event for investment bankers,
deal strategists, corporate executives and lawyers will recognize top
performance in legal and financial advisory and underwriting roles in M&A,
IPOs, and other categories. It will build upon the Big Deals annual special
edition of The Globe and Mail's Report on Business, which has partnered in
recent years with Thomson Financial as the underlying data provider in
determining the country's top ranking bankers and lawyers. All net proceeds
from the event will go to Junior Achievement Canada.
Keynote speaker at the black tie event will be Robert Hormats, Vice
Chairman of Goldman, Sachs (International) and Managing Director Goldman,
Sachs & Co. Amanda Lang, host of SqueezePlay, Business News Network (BNN) will
be the evening's emcee.
The list of awards, to be given to eligible Canadian headquartered
companies or funds that have announced and either completed transactions in
2007 or are likely to complete these in 2008, include: M&A by Industry;
Foreign Acquisition of the Year; Value Creation (past three years); and Deal
Team of the Year. In addition, the various Thomson Financial league table
awards for banks and law firms will also be featured at this event.
Cocktails will be at 6:00 PM, followed by the Gala Dinner and Awards
