Despite rising gas prices, RVing is an economical way to travel
OTTAWA, June 27 /CNW Telbec/ - As we coast toward Canada Day and many of
us are planning summer long-weekend trips; Go RVing wants to remind Canadians
that an RV trip is an excellent way to spend summer holidays, especially for
those on a budget.
Go RVing Canada highlighted today the results of a recent study conducted
by PKF Consulting which showed that an RV holiday is by far the most
economical. The study, which compared the cost of 12 of the most popular
vacation types using a hypothetical family of four consisting of 2 adults and
2 children showed that an RV holiday costs on average
- 50% less than car/hotel vacations
- 60% less than bus/hotel vacations
- 60% less than train/hotel vacations
- 70% less than air/hotel vacations
- two-thirds less than budget cruise get-aways
As many Canadians are re-evaluating their summer plans because of the
reality of rising gas prices, Go RVing member dealers continue to report an
increase in RV sales.
"Families have to remember that, as gas prices rise, so do other costs of
travelling, such as flight tickets and meals," explains Fortin LeFaivre.
"Canadians are discovering that the flexibility of an RV holiday means that
you can travel the distance you choose, allowing families to plan their
holiday around their budget."
RVing eliminates the costly expenses of flights and train tickets where
you pay per traveller and does away with overpriced hotel and restaurant
bills. Travellers can choose to stay at one of Canada's beautiful campgrounds
to eliminate time spent on the road and cut fuel expenses, making RVing an
enjoyable and affordable holiday and an excellent option for a summer
"RVing offers many benefits: it's cost effective, it's flexible, and it's
fun," said Fortin LeFaivre. "And families with children will really notice a
difference in their holiday budget when they prepare their own healthy food in
the RV's full kitchen."
