IABC/Toronto Names APEX Public Relations as Agency of the Year for Second Consecutive Year



    TORONTO, June 2 /CNW/ - For the second consecutive year, the Toronto
Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)
honored APEX Public Relations as both Agency of the Year, as well as Mid-Size
PR Agency of the Year and Cowan & Company as Small Agency of the Year. Diana
Robinson & Associates took first-time honors as Freelancer/Independent Agency
of the Year.
    These business awards were presented at IABC/Toronto's annual OVATION
Awards Gala, held at the Liberty Grand in Toronto on May 29, 2008 to recognize
excellence in communication strategies.
    "These agency winners were selected from impressive written submissions
highlighting each entrant's 2008 achievements, including account wins,
corporate social responsibility initiatives, employee engagement programs,
industry awards and client testimonials," says Janet Comeau, president,
IABC/Toronto. "What's more, these agencies continue to lend their expertise
and support to the communications industry in varied ways, such as serving as
volunteers, speakers, mentors and educators."
    The Gala also featured more than 60 campaign awards, including the
People's Choice Award. This coveted award was selected by a vote restricted to
IABC/Toronto's 1,500 members and won by Paradigm Public Relations for: Are
your breasts online? - The launch of the Booby Wall (www.boobywall.ca).
Designed to support Rethink Breast Cancer by educating young women about the
importance of early detection, this integrated marketing communications
campaign included contributions from Real Interactive, BOOM Marketing and
Schick Canada.
    The 2008 OVATION Awards were sponsored by: Cramer & Company Ltd., Grand &
Toy, MAVERICK Public Relations, Mercer, News Canada, PollStream, and Toronto
Hydro.
