Hydro One to Promote Energy Conservation at International Plowing Match 2009

TEMISKAMING, ON, Sept. 10 /CNW/ - Hydro One will bring its home and
business energy conservation programs to the 2009 International Plowing Match
and Rural Expo (IPM), the largest event ever staged in northeastern Ontario.
The annual fair is being held this year in Earlton, Ontario, September 22 to
26, and is expected to draw 70,000 visitors from across Canada.
"Hydro One provides electricity to a large number of homes and businesses
in rural and Northern Ontario," said Giuliana Rossini, Director Strategy and
Conservation Officer. "This year, our focus is to share information on how to
save energy and money through simple tips for the home and how to get
financial help for farms and small businesses wanting to upgrade to more
energy efficient tools and practices."
Hydro One representatives will be providing information about popular
programs like The Great Refrigerator Roundup for homeowners, the Electricity
Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) for mid-to-large businesses, and the Power
Savings Blitz for the small business owner. Staff will be on hand to answer
questions about Smart Meters and the new Time of Use (TOU) rates to be
implemented throughout the province next year.
Visitors to the Hydro One booth will have a chance to spin the 'Wheel of
Conservation' to win energy-efficient prizes such as programmable thermostats
and compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Hydro One foresters will demonstrate and assist kids and adults in safe
tree-climbing techniques. Company lines maintainers will give rides in Hydro
One's new, energy-efficient 'bucket' trucks.
Hydro One will be at the IPM fair grounds daily from 8:30 am. to 5:00
p.m. A major sponsor since 2003, Hydro One also provides all of the electrical
infrastructure needed to operate the fair, and has been an exhibitor for more
than a quarter century.

Hydro One delivers electricity safely, reliably and responsibly to homes
and businesses across the province of Ontario and owns and operates Ontario's
29,000 km high-voltage transmission network that delivers electricity to large
industrial customers and municipal utilities, and a 122,000 km low-voltage
distribution system that serves about 1.3 million end-use customers and
smaller municipal utilities in the province. Hydro One is wholly owned by the
Province of Ontario.
