Hundreds of kids get on board for rail safety at GO Transit's KidSummer event

TORONTO, Aug. 5, 2009 /CNW/ - Hundreds of excited kids and their
caregivers took part in GO Transit's annual free KidSummer event in downtown
Toronto. Each year, GO Transit hosts this event as part of the popular Today's
Parent KidSummer series.
This year's activities began at Union Station where children aged 4-12
were able to explore GO's miniature safety village and hang out with GO Bear.
Attendees jumped aboard a free GO Train to Exhibition station where they
played games and watched a rail safety presentation by GO Transit Enforcement
Officers.
Kids also had the chance to explore a GO double decker bus, one of 22 in
GO's fleet. Before heading back to Union Station on the 12:00 p.m. train,
participants enjoyed a light, healthy lunch provided by Bombardier
Transportation.
KidSummer is just one of GO's many events held throughout the year that
aims to teach young people about the importance of rail and transit safety. GO
Transit is committed to providing community outreach and educational events
that will keep kids and the public safe.
Today's Parent KidSummer is a summer-long program of fun events and
activities the whole family can enjoy. An extension of Canada's No.1 parenting
magazine, Today's Parent KidSummer hosts daily events throughout the GTA and
across Southern Ontario from July 1st to August 31st.

GO Transit is the Province of Ontario's interregional public transit
system linking Toronto with the surrounding regions of the Greater Toronto
Area (GTA). GO carries nearly 55 million passengers a year in an extensive
network of train and bus services that spans over 8,000 square kilometres. GO
