MOORESVILLE, NC, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - Today Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW)
announced that Alan D. Huggins has been promoted to president, Lowe's Canada,
effective immediately. Huggins replaces Don T. Stallings, who will represent
Lowe's in the company's new joint venture with Australia's largest retailer,
Woolworths Limited (ASX: WOW).
"Lowe's steady growth and success in Canada have been the result of
strong management and an outstanding team," said Larry D. Stone, Lowe's

stores in the Greater Toronto Area. We are pleased to maintain that level of
experience and leadership under the direction of Alan Huggins as we continue
to grow our business in Canada."
Lowe's opened its first Canadian stores in December 2007 and currently
operates 14 stores open in Ontario with two more stores opening later this
Alan Huggins has served as vice president of operations for Lowe's Canada
since February 2006. Huggins joined Lowe's in 2001 and has worked in a number
of increasingly responsible positions, including district manager for stores
in North Carolina and California. Huggins has more than 25 years of retail
experience, including 10 years with the Hechinger Company, and tenures at
Office Depot and Jo-Ann Fabrics.
Lowe's announced its joint venture with Woolworths on Aug. 24, 2009.
Under the agreement, the world's second largest home improvement retailer will
be one-third owner of the destination home improvement chain in Australia,
slated to open its first store in the 2011 fiscal year.
Don Stallings has served as president of Lowe's Canada operation since
August 2007. Stallings joined Lowe's in 1994 and, in 1997 as regional vice
president, was responsible for leading the team that opened Lowe's first
stores in the Dallas, Texas market. Prior to his appointment in Canada, Don
was regional vice president in the Houston market.
