How will suggested tax cuts affect Canada's social programs?

    OTTAWA, Oct. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Media reports suggest that today's
economic statement will be chock full of tax cuts. CUPE National President
Paul Moist and CUPE chief economist Toby Sanger will be available today to
comment on the economic statement.
Warns Moist, "The federal government must be careful not to abdicate its
social responsibilities, and risk becoming little more than a tax collection
and cheque writing agency."

CUPE is Canada's largest union representing more than 560,000 workers
across Canada.
