TORONTO, Sept. 10 /CNW/ - Joining its sibling coupe, the Honda Civic Si
Sedan has been announced for Canada for the 2008 model year. The long-awaited
2008 Honda Civic Si Sedan will be available at dealerships across Canada in
early October with an MSRP of $26,680.
The Civic Si Sedan is designed to showcase the performance potential of
Honda's global compact platform while providing the everyday practicality of a
Civic with its legendary quality, refinement and durability. The result is
that the Civic Si Sedan and Coupe, both mechanically the same, are the best
handling and best performing Civics to date. The Civic Si Sedan is designed to
continue the benchmark status of the Civic Si Coupe which was voted the "Best
New Sports Car" by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC)
when it was introduced as a 2006 model.
High-revving power, quick shifting precision and tenacious grip describe
the Civic Si Sedan powertrain. The 16-valve, 2.0-litre engine uses Honda's
i-VTEC valve control system to develop 197 horsepower and 139 lb.-ft. of
torque with good fuel economy and low exhaust emissions. Further refinement is
achieved through drive-by-wire throttle control for smooth acceleration
The Civic Si is available exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Designed to be exceptionally compact and lightweight, this 6-speed has also
been engineered to shift with extremely short and precise throws.
A helical type limited slip differential in the Civic Si improves
acceleration and cornering performance by ensuring that both front wheels
receive an optimum level of torque at all times. Primary benefits include the
ability to accelerate harder when exiting corners and enhancement of the
vehicle's responsiveness to throttle inputs in corners.
The Civic Si is built on the latest generation of Honda's Global Compact
Platform. The platform implements advanced body construction technologies for
enhanced safety, better rigidity, improved ride comfort and a quieter cabin.
The 2008 Civic Si integrates Honda's most advanced safety technology with
the revolutionary Advanced Compatibility Engineering(TM) (ACE) Body Structure
for improved crash protection, active front head restraints to reduce the risk
of neck injuries from rear collisions, and segment-exclusive standard front
side airbags and side curtain airbags
The Civic Si features a sport-oriented, speed-sensitive Electric Power
Steering (EPS) system that increases power assist at low speeds and reduces
power assist at high speeds for improved steering feel and performance. The
Civic Si uses P215/45 R17 performance tires with 17-inch alloy wheels.
A two-tier instrument panel positions priority gauges like the
speedometer and rpm rev-limit indicator up high in the driver's field of
vision. The lower level of the instrument panel houses a tachometer,
multi-information digital display, odometer with trip meter and a variety of
The Civic Si is produced and assembled exclusively at the Honda of Canada
Manufacturing (HCM) plant in Alliston, Ontario, using domestic and globally
sourced parts from Canada and the U.S.
