Honda Canada Sets All-Time Annual Sales Record



    Honda and Acura Break December Sales Records;
    Nine Monthly and Annual Product Sales Records Set

    TORONTO, Jan. 3 /CNW/ - Honda Canada Inc. reported combined record
December sales of 17,817 units by its Honda and Acura divisions, a 12% year
over year increase. The Honda Automobile Division reported record December
sales of 15,542 units, up 10%, and Acura Division reported record December
sales of 2,275 units, up 27% over last year.
    Honda Canada also achieved all-time record calendar year results with
combined Honda and Acura sales of 170,307 units for 2007, an increase of 3%
over record 2006 sales of 165,985 units, representing the best-ever calendar
year sales over the past 35 years in Canada. The Honda Automobile Division set
an all-time annual sales record with 150,188 units, up 3% over last year's
record sales of 145,629 units.
    "Our record sales in 2007 were strengthened by the continued popularity
of the Honda Civic, Fit and all-new Accord coupe and sedan, along with record
sales of our two Acura luxury sport-utility vehicles," said Jim Miller,
executive vice president, Honda Canada Inc. "These leading products offer
outstanding fuel efficiency, top-of-class safety, innovative technology and
affordable fun-to-drive performance, providing Canadians with tremendous value
for their car-buying dollars in today's competitive market."

    
    Company sales highlights include:

    -  All-time annual sales record of 170,307 units for Honda Canada Inc.
       (Honda and Acura combined), up 3% over record annual sales in 2006

    -  All-time annual sales record of 150,188 units for the Honda
       Automobile Division, up 3% over record annual sales in 2006

    -  Acura Division achieves the ninth straight year with annual sales in
       excess of 20,000 units, which is the most for any luxury brand in
       Canada

    -  Record December sales of 15,542 units for Honda Automobile Division,
       up 10%

    -  Record December sales of 2,275 units for Acura Division, up 27%

    Product sales highlights include:

    -  Honda Civic sets all-time annual sales record of 70,838 units,
       up 1% from last year's record of 70,028 units

    -  Honda Fit sets all-time annual sales record of 13,507, up 21% from
       last year's record of 10,634 units

    -  Acura MDX sets all-time annual sales record of 6,017, up 17% from the
       2002 record of 4,992 units (and up 47% from last year)

    -  Acura RDX sets all-time annual sales record of 4,104, up 74% from
       last year's record of 1,073 units

    -  Honda CR-V sets all-time single month record with 2,843 units

    -  Honda Ridgeline sets all-time single month record with 702 units

    -  Acura MDX sets all-time single month record with 979 units

    -  Honda Civic sets December sales record of 7,051 units, up 5% over 2006

    -  Acura RDX sets December sales record of 469 units, up 26% over 2006

    -  Honda Accord December sales of 2,350 units up 28% over last year
    

    Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario, increased vehicle production
in 2007. It produced 390,580 passenger cars and trucks, up 1% from 2006. Honda
of Canada Mfg. was the first Japanese manufacturer to produce vehicles in
Canada and was the first to export Canadian-built vehicles to Japan. It is
currently in its 21st year of operation in Canada.
