Sales Boosted by Record Sales of Honda Fit, CR-V and Odyssey, and
TORONTO, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - Honda Canada Inc. reported record August sales
of 18,270 units by its Honda and Acura divisions. The combined Honda and Acura
division sales were up 3 per cent over last year and represent all-time record
sales for any month, surpassing the previous all-time monthly record of 18,242
units in May 2007. Honda automobile division reported record August sales of
16,488 units, up 6 per cent. Acura division posted a 20 per cent decrease with
sales of 1,782 units.
"Our record August sales were led by continuing strong sales of both Fit,
up 39 percent with sales of 1,416 units, and Civic, up 31 per cent with sales
of 8,326 units," said Jim Miller, executive vice president, Honda Canada Inc.
"Fit and Civic continue to do extremely well in the marketplace because of the
full complement of standard safety features, functionality and high fuel
efficiency they offer Canadian car buyers."
Honda's record monthly sales were led by record sales of Fit (1,416
units, up 39%); Odyssey (1,523 units, up 21 per cent); and CR-V (2,284 units,
up 20 per cent). Also reporting record monthly sales was the Acura RDX with
471 units, up from 91 units last August when it first went on sale near the
end of the month.

motorcycles and power equipment. With 130 manufacturing facilities in 29
countries worldwide, Honda now attracts nearly 20 million customers annually.
Honda Canada manufactures the Honda Ridgeline and Civic, and the Acura CSX and
MDX at its two plants in Alliston, Ontario. A new, third plant in Alliston,
with the capacity to produce up to 200,000 fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engines
annually, is scheduled to open in 2008.
