Home Hardware Dealers Learn, Buy and Celebrate at Market in St. Jacobs



    ST. JACOBS, ON, Sept. 19 /CNW/ - Home Hardware Stores Limited will launch
the company's Fall Dealer Market starting this weekend as more than 10,000
Home Hardware Dealers and vendors gather in St. Jacobs and Kitchener-Waterloo
for the 2008 Fall Market, running from September 21-23.
    "The Home Hardware Markets bring together our entire organization twice a
year with a focus on helping our Dealers grow their businesses," says Paul
Straus, Vice-President and CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "The exchange of
ideas and ability to see and buy the latest products are extremely valuable to
our Dealers. There really is no other event like this for independent home
improvement retailers anywhere else in the industry."
    Dealers from across Canada will be in St. Jacobs to preview new products,
exchange ideas and learn from one another. It's one more reason why we believe
our program is the strongest in the industry."
    Home Hardware Dealer-Owners attend the market to learn about new products
and network with fellow Dealers, suppliers and staff from across Canada.
Dealers also have the opportunity to preview and purchase the latest
merchandise for the spring/summer season.
    Home Hardware's exclusive Natura line of environmentally conscious
products is of particular interest to Dealers purchasing for spring 2009.
Natura is Home's fastest growing product line and features fertilizers,
herbicides, garden mulch/peat substitutes, and household cleaners among
others. Home Hardware continues to add new products to the line based on
positive feedback and high consumer demand.
    "The theme of the Market, Tools for Tomorrow, builds on our focus and

    Market attendees will also take the opportunity to celebrate Home
Hardware Founder and President, Walter Hachborn's 70th year in the home
improvement industry. In 1938, Walter began working at Hollinger Hardware in
St. Jacobs before founding Home Hardware in 1964, which is now a $4.8 billion
company with more than 1,000 stores across Canada.
    Canadian sports broadcaster, Brian Williams, will deliver the keynote
address titled, Lessons in Greatness from the Olympic Games.
    Home Hardware's national charitable partners - SickKids Foundation, Tree
Canada Foundation and Special Olympics Canada - will be represented at the
Market with displays, fundraising initiatives and will interact with Dealers.
    The Fall Market follows Home Hardware's Pre-Market Conference (PMC) at
the Waterloo Inn on Saturday, September 20. The conference allows
Dealer-Owners and staff to learn from industry experts at more than 80
seminars during a full-day session with nearly 750 people expected to attend.

    
    Highlights of the 2008 Fall Market include:

    -  Monday, September 22, 4:00 p.m. - Denis Flanagan, host of HGTV's
       Indoor Gardener and One Garden Two Looks, will discuss Green Solutions

    -  Tuesday, September 23, 8:00 a.m. - Keynote Address - Canadian sports
       broadcaster, Brian Williams

    -  Various Times Throughout the Market - Distribution Centre Tours -
       Guided tours of Home Hardware's state-of-the-art warehouse facility
       and distribution centre

    -  Various Times Throughout the Market - Burford Paint Plant Tours -
       Guided tours of the Burford Paint Plant where Home Hardware's Beauti-
       Tone Paint is manufactured.
    

    Visitors to Home Hardware Markets occupy more than 3,000 hotel rooms in
the Kitchener-Waterloo area and consume more than 7,600 meals over the course
of the three-day trade show.
